Ok without a partnership can you monetize your videos about games? for example clash of clans or even cod? or is the only way you can by being partnered up?

You can do it when not partnered, but you will have a lot more hassle if game devs don't want you to monetize their games or when trying to appeal copyright claims etc. but it can be done.

You can monetize Your gaming videos as long as You provide commentary, which is tied to live action on the screen, and has instructional or educational value. That's what Youtube rules say (more or less). I have gaming videos on my channel and I haven't got a single copyright claim. You gotta be careful with in-game music tho, because most of the time it's copyrighted. Better to mute it and mix yout video with royalty-free music.
