Monetising videos always on?

Lennart Guitar

Check my weekly guitar vlogs!
I want to upload a new video and I saw the the blue box with the message:
"Monetize your videos and grow your audience. Become a YouTube Partner today!"

I'm a pretty noob relating to these things, but I assume everybody just applies for that? Any reasons not to do it?

You have copyrighted contents on your channel and it would just end up getting rejected?

It probably does make sense for a large amount of people, but the ones uploading the music and the tv shows wouldn't go near that lol.

As said I'm a noob related to those thing, so I'm glad you pointed that out, thanks! I used 1 backing track I do have the permission of that guy to use it. However, he modified the original song so I have no clue whether that is allowed or not. Would you suggest to just apply for monetising and see what happens or just don't apply in my case? I won't use copyrighted things often I think tho

With such a small viewership all you will be doing is turning 10-30% of viewers away in return for a few cents.
Yeah I just started out. But I never was aware of that box, so I just asked it straight away. Obviously I don't care about the money with this amount of views but I want to find out how it works.

Thanks!

Thanks guys! Hehe I wasn't thinking that I would make (big) money tho, I just wanted to know if I should even focus on applying for monetising because I saw the advertisement today. But the answer is no, thanks for replying!
