Minecraft help?

I was wondering how do you make play a game of minecraft with two people? do you have to have your own server if so how?
 
You can either look for a server and join it, or you can buy a sector on a server for a monthly fee, or set up your own.
 
You could simply YouTube that, and get a simple tutorial showing how to set one up, or on a MineCraft Forum. :)
 
Does your friend live near you? If not, I would find some tutorials on YouTube.
 
There's and option when you play your world, something like make your world to LAN, and then your friend can join in as long as the computer connected each other with LAN
