May Algorithm shift?

Hey guys,

Wondering if any of you have noticed your newer videos getting a significant bump of authority when you release them?

Me and a friend of mine have both had our videos in the past few days go straight to the top of searches without any extra SEO effort going in. It's awesome, don't get me wrong! But I wondered if anyone else had noticed something like this?

For example, my latest video (with only like 20 odd views is at the top of the search for "(the game name) gameplay". Seems weird, but cool!

Have a nice day! :)

i have seen a difference. my first ever video is booming with over 200 views, despite me having 10? subscribers at the time of uploading it. perhaps youtube is finally supporting smaller channels?

As some other forum members mentioned maybe you are searching these terms when you are logged into your account and there is some cash memory and history so you will get different results than if somebody else is searching for that terms. When I search for that term I don`t see your video on the first page. You have an incognito mode on google chrome so open one of them and then look.

Use this site, pick US proxy, go to youtube.com and search for your keyword.

If you are still on first page, congratulations!

Yeah I use a private browser to check, I only noticed it at first because VidIQ showed me it was ranked at #1. After 24 hours though it went back down, very weird!

It is possible. I noticed a few of my videos had a sudden jump up in views which is always nice. Who knows during some back end changes a glitch may have happened or it was a caching issue.

Youtube's algorithm changes on a daily basis I think. It's a lot harder for your videos to get views, especially when you've made a channel in 2016/2017

idk if it's always been this way but i saw a video where someone says now the algorithm is more concerned about how long people are watching your video instead how many views you get

This change was implemented a long time ago already, even more important is the session time. You're part of a chain where a viewer watches. The best place to be is the one who starts the session chain (first video someone watches when starting youtube) and the worst is when they quit watching youtube while watching your video.
