Making a Trailer for a Game: Help Please?

Epic12

I Love YTtalk
I've googled and stuff, but I cannot find a good way to make a trailer for this game I'm making for school.

I want it to be in the vein of the The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds trailer
with the live action sequence. If anyone thinks they can personally help me, then please post down below and we can message?

My issue is, RPG Maker VX Ace won't allow any of their custom assets used outside of the software, so I can't use ANY gameplay!

Can anyone give me some advice? It's part of my project.

Are you going to use the trailer only for school? or are you planning to upload it on youtube?

Because if it is for educational purposes and you will only show it at school and not use it around the internet it is consider fair use because you're showing what you can do. At least that is what I learned at college.

I considered YouTube, but then after I posted this I thought not.

Fair use is what I thought to. And I HAVE to use the materials used (pre-loaded in the software) in a table. I'm just unsure on what to even do now.

If I don't use footage, should it be more of a teaser? The product that I have to make (as well as the game) is a promotional product for the game and I WANT to do a trailer, question is how do I do it.

Thanks though, I'm not going to upload it to YouTube now. But I still need help I guess.

(In saying all this, people do upload LPs of games they've made in RPG Maker onto YouTube and that's technically breaking the rules because the assets are being used in other software.)

Promotional product as in? Shirt or something alike?

If you purchase and use RPG Maker xp which I personally still think is the best one. You then have a licence to ditribute your games accordingly and can generally do what ever you want. You can easily record the game play using fraps or snagit. However for a trailor etc you dont want to show much game play or even too many of the good bits. Ensure you have music that will grab your audiences attention and also links with the game itself rather than any old piece of music.

Who is your target audience? This will help with planning your trailor

The game HAS to be one of three backstories, which are all.... terrible. :P

The best one is called Princess Iodari and I'm aiming it at 7-12 year old boys AND girls. I've turned it into an RPG with the software.

Ok so the appealing things for me as a kid was less of the story and more of the fighting sequences. spells etc. Maybe look at some trailers for games. One I still enjoy is the intro sequence for Suikoden. grabbed me as a child and I still like watching it.

Oh no, I know what I'd include.

The issue is, I CAN'T include ANY of the footage from the game because of the software's T&C's and part of the project is keeping within copyright.

Im sure there must be a loophole somewhere. Otherwise you cant really have a trailer because you cant show off anything about the game

Doesn't look like it.

However, I think it refers to the materials. E.G:

'You are also allowed to modify the materials with other software such as Photoshop, provided they are only used within RPG Maker or IG Maker software, and not sold/or distributed.'

So technically, it means SOLELY the materials. Plus tons of people post them on YouTube so I should be okay if I don't post it online. :)
