Make Previously Unlisted Videos Show as Newly Uploaded

Good afternoon everyone! I have uploaded a few videos to my channel and set them to "unlisted" with the intent on making them "public" at a time of my choosing. That way when it's time to go public, it's an easy change versus the 30 minute video upload process when I want a video to go public.

What I found is when I change a video from unlisted to public, and check my subscriptions from another YouTube account where I'm subscribed to the account in question, the previously unlisted and now public video does not show as a new upload.

My question: is there a way to force YouTube to show a previously uploaded but unlisted video as a recent upload without deleting and re-uploading the video?

Thank you,
Daniel

Here is a quote i found:

"An unlisted video is a different type of private video. "Unlisted" means that only people who know the link to the video can view it (such as friends or family to whom you send the link). An unlisted video will not appear in any of YouTube's public spaces (such as search results, your channel, or the Browse page)."

Maybe it's just lagging, I've uploaded in the past and it's taken some time for it to show.

I'd suggest uploading the video as "scheduled." Then, the video is private until the date you wish to make it public, and I've always had it pop up as a "new" video that way. ^_^

I'm not sure if this will work, but try setting the currently-uploaded video to "private," wait for YouTube to save changes, and then see if you can set the video again to "scheduled." I'm not sure if it will actually post it as a "new" video, but it might be worth a try! :)

Once a video is Public or Unlisted, it is published and can’t be unpublished even if you set it to Private afterward. Only if it starts out as Private can you publish it at a later date. Scheduled does that automatically.

Thank you for your reply! I can see the video publically, but the issue was that it didn't appear as new on the date I made it public. YouTube was still honoring the original upload date when the video was unlisted.

Thank you for that idea! Do you know if you are able to change the scheduled date once it's been set? For example if I upload a video scheduled to post on Friday and then decide I want it to upload next Friday instead.

Thank you for for that information!

Maybe because since it's already been uploaded it's considered old, even if it's unlisted. I can't remember if my videos that I made public from private were considered new. Maybe it;s just a Youtube glitch, Youtube does strange things sometimes!

Yes, if you upload them as Private, they are still unpublished. As soon as you make it Public (or Unlisted), it becomes published for the first time and they show up as new.

Yeah -- you can change the scheduled date as long as it hasn't happened already. ^_^ Make sure you have the right timezone picked when you choose a time.

I've wondered about this with the "unlisted" option, actually. I've uploaded videos as unlisted to get Nintendo to "okay" them through their Nintendo Creators Program, and then moved the video to private, and then scheduled to become "public" a few days later. Everyone seemed to get the notification of a "new" video, and it was in the "suggested videos" as "new video" once it went live, even though it had already been over a week old since it was initially uploaded as unlisted... I wonder how long videos are considered "new" in YouTube land...???
