Losing Subscribers?? Anyone got any advice for me?

Hey everyone! So I'm a Comedy-based vlogger (not like daily vlogs, think more along the lines of Superwoman or Connor Franta) And I'm starting to see a drop in subscribers every now and then (but then again, I'm always getting more at the same time) and I'm guessing it's mostly from other channels who expect me to sub-for-sub, and then use the tactic of unsubscribing soon after. And there always seems to be this one (I think) person that I suspect who keeps subscribing and unsubscribing (every time I upload, there's instantly a dislike and one less subscriber, only to have this keep happening)

Is there any way for me to gain more subscribers? Should I reinvigorate my content, perhaps with some pranks or Game segments with friends or something? also, should I change my filming background every now and then?

Or how about parodies/different concept videos than usual? Think a vlog topic done in a similar style to Cinemasins...

And would starting to make funny videos on Vine as well help me to gain and reach a bigger audience? I already have a few good Vines planned

Well for the subscriber question it could be very likely there is just one person subbing and unsubbing but one thing about getting more subscribers is eventually you will start to lose subscribers just naturally because they could a) stop watching your content b) just stop going on youtube and then unsub from everyone or c) I I believe inactive accounts get deleted and this could cause some of the loss.

And to the key to gain subscribers is putting out consistent videos which I feel you are doing a good job because it seems like by looking at your channel you upload a video once a week about so that's good! And for vlogging you have good thumbnails so I wouldn't worry about that just keep focusing on staying consistent.

I think stick with what you have for now and gradually add different kinds of videos or series but make sure they aren't too different from what you already have on their. If people like one of your videos they subscribe because they like that so want to see more videos of the same type! So stay consistent and upload roughly the same kinds of videos.

Lastly with the Vine question you can never do too much cross platform promotion so I would say go for it man and make some good quality Vines!

Usually it's either inactive accounts or people cleaning up their sub content. If the latter, they might get back to you sometime in the near future.

Take a look at the kind of content you have that gets the most views. Many of them are tutorials. People love to learn and are constantly searching for different ways to do things. They want to be guided. I would concentrate more on tutorials (infused with whatever comedic ability you have), even if they are jokey tutorials (I haven't watched any of your videos yet). For whatever reason "How to" in the title tends to generate views and do well with the suggested video algorithm.

Look at the other types of videos that are popular on your channel. They have to do with lists of things. "Things canadians do"..."types of students". People see those thumbnails and want to relate to those types of lists. They want to say 'Yep, he really nailed that one haha' and laugh at themselves or their culture or whatever. It's engaging, it's fun, and it's high retention as many of those people will watch most of the video.

So I'd focus on tutorials and lists if I were you. Try to make these videos as relatable to people as possible. Don't get too niche, in my opinion. Anyone can create those types of videos, but if you have a likable personality or an interesting way of presenting it (through comedy, etc) you will do better than others who are making similar videos.

Thanks for the reply XD as for the different types of videos I was thinking, like the occasional light-hearted "prank"/social experiment video...shouldn't be too different since my channel revolves around comedy, and maybe some music or some more serious skits (to develop me as an artist haha)

That's actually so true, as I found today...my "Types of Halloween Costumes" got more views in a few hours then my previous video did the entire week, so I guess doing more of the "Types of", "Things ____", or maybe just my own twist on popular vlogger topics (build an audience first before going into more unique/niche things haha) And that's so true especially in comedy. A lot of it has to do with relatability...maybe I could also sometimes make videos about funny things that happened in my life that people could relate to as well? XD

Ugh story of my life. I always lose subscribers constantly. I'm always scared if I don't stay on top of it I might end up with 1 subscriber left!!, lol. Anyway, maybe we should sub each other and stay subbed ;-)
