Looking for Help - Historical Game Release Dates

I'm developing a series that will involve a short segment going over what games were released in the current week but from years past. So for example, Syndicate for PS3 was released in this week, 2012. However, I want to be able to include obscure titles and go back at far as the 70s' 80s'. I'm having a difficult time sourcing a research mechanism that has this information. Anyone know of any online databases that could be used for this?

I'm hoping for something easier than going through every years release dates individually on Wikipedia, which is the only real source I've found so far.

Go into your local gamestop with a pen and paper and copy down the dates from the back of the games

It's really not too hard to find on wiki imo. Should be able to even Google "games released in 1980" for example. Are u wanting a complete list?

It's more a question of convenience. Having the list by year complicates the process. Each video would have a section of 6-7 games released that week in previous years. The wikipedia list is not attrocious by any stretch, but it does mean checking 30+ pages every time, for the info I need.
