Looking back on early videos

Now that my channel is really flying, I've been spending a lot more time on channel housekeeping and linking related videos to maximize hits.

And it's paying off.

In doing so it's interesting to see just how enormously presentation and video quality have improved over the last couple of years.

And going to 1080p in the last few months just lifts it all to a whole new level.

Does you good to look back and see the shaky beginnings you came from, and where you appear to be headed.

I like to keep all of my old ( but decent) videos I made last year, it is a motivator for me to continue going on Youtube!
 
I leave them on my channel, maybe changing their playlists or something. But it is a motivator to see the improvement you make over time whether it be your intros and effects, or more importantly the actual content you are releasing in my case my commentary and comedy has been improving slowly as I am becoming used to it more.
 
Being in Oz it's always a bit of a worry whether to use American terminology like "aluminum" vs
aluminium" in the videos, seeing as the largest audience is the USA.

But then, Americans probably have a bit of a chuckle at Oz English, so I always go Oz original.

I also wonder what viewers think of my Oz accent, but never get any feedback. I can't change it anyway, so it's either a plus or a minus.

While the Canadians, UK, and North America are snowed in they probably like to see a bit of sunshine from down under :)

Hi Rob, how have you been linking related videos?

As for the weather, cold and raining where I am today :(
 
I link the videos using "note" annotations, with the optional video link opening in another window.

So, as an example in my gear making video where I mention about making the gear blank, I put a comment at that point, which provides a click link to open the associated video from (and in addition to) the one being watched.

Even though I have links in the video description to web pages associated with my videos, I'm convinced that most viewers don't read them, or go back to them.

This is pretty basic cross linking, but it works in my case.

You don't want to over use it.

Also keep the comment text discreet - there's nothing worse than seeing huge and multiple comment boxes on videos.
