Logos and Banners | How Often Should You Change?

Hey everybody, this is something that I've been wondering regarding originality in channel branding. I know since the channel layout transition from the large video at top of page to the new layout now a lot regarding channel art has change. Youtube has transitioned from those large bulky clickable banners that everybody sought to get from a partnership, to the smaller size now. When this transitioned ocured many big and small Youtubers changed their banner art and logo such as Chris Smoove. I see some Youtubers continue to change their channel logos and banners monthly now. I changed my art until I got a decent, crisp piece of channel art. Since I acquired that I have kept it the same and don't intent to altercate my channel art because I believe preserving the original art captivates the originality of the Youtuber(maybe in another year or so).

What do you all think if a Youtuber has a decent peace of channel art should they keep it to brand themself over time or change it after a certain period?

You shouldn't change it that often. It's your branding, and you should stick with something for a while. Think of brands, and how often they change their stuff. Keeping it the same causes less confusion.

I have a problem with my branding, and i'm always finding myself changing it. It's a bad habit. I want to keep it the same, but I always get bored. I can't count how many different banners/avatars i've been through since the start of my channel.

I think people should keep their channel art and such for a year at a time, at the very least. Once they find something they're really satisfied with, they shouldn't touch it until 365 days later. To avoid both your viewers getting confused, and pretty much, aggravation from constantly changing it.

So everyone should definitely take as long as they need to buy/make the perfect banner/logo.

Well I guess we all have something/somethings to improve on within our channel. Luckily I haven't gained that bad habit that you want me to have, nah just playing with you. But since the new Youtube layout I feel I've been pretty consistent.[DOUBLEPOST=1395097291,1395097159][/DOUBLEPOST]

completely agreed I think I'm pretty satisfied even though some dude said my logo looks like a pen**. Oh well, I'm fine with my stuff. It's clear and the font is large enough to see. The logo is also understandable. As far as my banner I feel like it tells the story of my channel pretty much.

I would create a logo you're happy with and then stick with it, maybe change it a little but keep it, a logo is something that you want people to recognise and if you keep changing it they wont.
Banners, I personally change mine whenever I can be bothered to create a new one.

It is beating a dead horse at this point, but I totally agree. You can take just about as long as you want creating/finding your art work that best matches you and your content, but once it is found, stick with it! I have gone through like 4 avatars since I've started, but my current one is probably the one I will always have. Now I am working on my banner, want some original art in it, but perfection takes time.

Yeah man. Pretty much I guess everybody is striving for the end result of channel art that matches the content you produce. You'll eventually find it, you've already found it with your avatar it seems.

Hahahaha, 100% true xDD

I guess if you really have a reason to change it then go for it and change it!
But just out of boredom is not a good reason indeed since it might brings confusion to your subscribers.

This might actually be a different outlook for reasoning to change banner. I never heard of this before people changing banners to fit there series, but this seems reasonable.
I'm going to try to change my banner and logo once whenever I start a new series.

I wouldn't go with 100%, but more like 99.9% true. Yeah I'm keeping my logo ready for anything that goes my way haha
