Livestream help?

Lizzeelive

I Love YTtalk
So next week or the week after I want top livestream a game called Sally face. The problem is, I have no idea HOW. I have streamed once before but for some reason the only person who showed up didn't get any audio. So I have a couple of questions! What platform is best for livestreaming games, Twitch or YouTube? Another question, XSplit or OBS or another program? Where are the best places to promote a LiveStream? Here? Twitter? EVERYWHERE? Also, Any general tips? I am so sorry if this is in the wrong forum by the way. I would thing this falls under gaming and tech but I'm not sure.

I've never really live streamed too much, but I have friends that do so let me try to help you out a bit. Both Youtube and Twitch are good for streaming, but I've found that it's kind of hard to get your following on to a new site if you've only been on Youtube, for that reason I'd say stick to Youtube for now. As for the program, OBS is super simple, you just set up your audio, video, and put in your stream key and press start recording. Finally, yes! Tell everyone that you'll be streaming, the more people watching the more fun you'll have. Hope this helped!

Thank you so much! I will definitely take all of this to heart! I will try OBS for streaming! i use a combination of both to record, sometimes I use one sometime I use the other, so I wanted a good opinion on which was better for streaming in general! I will probably stream on YT since you made a good point there, as well!

If you are planning on streaming I would suggest getting OBS Studio, if you are not already using that.
If you want to know if there's audio or not you can just listen to yourself on the stream on YouTube (but after you have checked that the audio is working, you might want to mute the stream on YouTube so it doesn't get echoey :P)

Thanks for the tips! I will definitely do that!

I think this thread fits a little better under the video recording, software, & hardware forum, so I've moved it to here. ^_^
Thanks Katy!

One trick you could try out if you stream via youtube or twitch. Download the apps if you havent already, onto your phone. There is no way I have found, in knowing whether you microphone is picking you up or if you are gaming for example, if the game is overpowering and drowning you out.

When you stream, do a test stream to begin with. While streaming for about 5mins, open the app on your phone and find yourself. Watch your own live stream to see if you can hear yourself clearly. If not then you can tweak and play around until its perfect. Then simply close the stream and begin a real one.
Be sure to put in the title that its a test.

I don't know if there is an easier way of testing that out but it works for me. I always prefer to watch the video back and hear myself because thats the exact same quality and content your viewers will be getting. if its bad then you are gunna want to fix it pronto lol
