List of Monetizable Covers

Hi guys!
I'm Kevin, I've been a lurker here for quite a while and finally decided to sign in to ask a question.

I have a music channel, where I play mainly covers (for now).
YouTube has finally enabled monetization for eligible covers (see "Monetizing eligible cover videos" on the YouTube Help page)

My question: is there a way to know in advance which songs are monetizable? Is there a list or something?
Among all the 37 cover videos I have, only 1 gave me the option to monetize with the prompt "Is this a cover?" and I can't figure out why.

Try making the covers different than the original songs, in а different tone. Maybe change something in the chords progression and youtube will not be able to match 3rd party on it.

1. That won't help. Youtube scans and detects words

2. It's illegal to bybass matched 3rd party due to YouTube License rules

3. If you change the song to much it's derivative and you need permission before uploading

A support person at YouTube confirmed that the ad supported music is audio recordings only not song covers. Also all the songs in the ad supported music say you can't monetize them.

Bummer, I thought the list was useless but that just confirms it's even more useless than before lol Don't know why they bothered making that list.

I'm going to guess, that the bigger the artist and their record company, the harder it will be to monetize their songs.

For instance, nothing Taylor Swift will ever be monetised ever, because her label hates the fact you can even stream her songs.

Taylor Swift is confusing because the ad supported music says you can use her music when it's been blocked over and over again
