Lionel Messi scores again, Inter Miami tops Philadelphia 4-1 to make Leagues Cup final

In the process of consistently scoring goals, Lionel Messi continues to showcase remarkable performances, while Inter Miami maintains its position at the forefront with a series of victories.

In the 20th minute of the match, Messi unleashed a spectacular shot from a distance of 30 yards, bypassing three Philadelphia defenders. This goal brought immense joy to the fans who had paid a record-breaking price for soccer tickets in the Philadelphia area. On Tuesday night, Inter Miami secured a 4-1 victory over the Philadelphia Union in the Leagues Cup semifinal.

At this juncture, Major League Soccer in the United States undeniably serves as Lionel Messi's stage. Following the game, Messi engaged in a jersey exchange with fellow Argentine and Union forward Julián Carranza. Interestingly, he chose to forego the conventional postgame interview and instead opted to convey his thoughts to his staggering 483 million Instagram followers.

In his post, he wrote, "Through our relentless efforts, we've made it to the finals! We're now left with only the final step to conquer." The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner has already netted nine goals in six matches with his new team. The attendance for the match reached 20,000 spectators, with ticket prices soaring well beyond $1,000 in the secondary market.

Evidently, there was hardly any discontent among the audience.

Of course, this sentiment didn't include the three Union season-ticket holders who, for that night, set aside their allegiance to the home team and donned Messi's jerseys. Nor did it encompass the fans who patiently lined up for Messi jerseys—although the authenticity of these jerseys wasn't guaranteed—or the enthusiasts queuing at a food truck for "Messi fries." Naturally, the Union had no reason to complain either; they certainly desired victory, but this match not only boosted their financial resources but also garnered unprecedented global attention in a single night.

When the 36-year-old Messi was introduced onto the field, the fans erupted into cheers, and their excitement reached another level when he skillfully placed the ball beyond the diving goalkeeper Andre Blake. Messi then extended his arms and leapt with a triumphant fist pump to celebrate the achievement.

As for the remainder of the match, it could be considered almost incidental.

In the first half, Jordi Alba and Josef Martinez also found the net, securing additional goals for Miami. In the second half, David Ruiz secured another goal. Inter Miami will now face Nashville in the Leagues Cup championship game on Saturday. Nashville secured their spot by defeating the Mexican club Monterrey with a 2-0 victory later on Tuesday night.

Alejandro Bedoya managed to score a goal for the Philadelphia Union in the second half, salvaging some pride for his team.
