Lighting and Cameras

I've Got It
How can I get good lighting using lamps? I can't afford any lights at the moment. Also, is the Canon EOS Rebel T3i a good camera to save up for?

You can save up and get construction lights which are pretty cheap(but get super hot). But if you just want to use lamps get GE reveal light bulbs that give pretty good lighting.

We use the T4i for our shooting all our videos and I LOVE it so much! I'm pretty sure the T3i is exactly the same minus the touch screen, auto focus during video and a few other minor things.[DOUBLEPOST=1368936988,1368936923][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, we purchased the Cowboy Umbrella Lighting Kit from Amazon. It's 3 umbrella lights for something like $60 I think. They work pretty well.

Wow those lights are actually something that I might be able to afford! Thanks!

Lighting should cost you virtually nothing. Buy high lumen CFLs in the same temperature spectrum and then gets some cheepo mounts for them. Done.

I put a fairly complex lighting set up doing this for less than $100.

As far as cameras go, it really depends on how much you want to spend. I know people who like that canon a lot, but when I looked in to it it wouldn't work for me. I needed redundant recording options so I didn't lose any footage I couldn't re-record.

Just remember with DSLRs it's all about the lenses much more than the camera.[DOUBLEPOST=1368938175,1368938049][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, don't spend much on diffuser umbrellas. If you are paying much more then $10 you can make them yourself using a $1 umbrella from Walmart and some stretchy white fabric they will also sell at Walmart.

$60 for 3 is pricey, check amazon for better deals.

I would say get some China Balls and the the T3i is really nice for video, the T5i is basically a T4i wich is basically a T3i :p

i use a T3i for my videos and films and it works like a charm. definitely worth saving up for! but lenses do play an important role later on
