I don't know if this is the right place to post this so move it if it's not :) thanks

So I have a great idea and I personally think it could be a huge hit! But I don't have the resources to develop it! So I'm thinking of selling it to. A company but I don't know how that would work since if I tell them what it is then they might just make it seem like they got the idea and all of that but if I don't tell them what it is then they probably won't buy it so I'm very confused on how that would work anybody can help me?

What exactly is the idea? A video? A series? An Item?

And when your talking about selling to a corporation, you need to give presentations, paperworks, etc...

Let them sign an NDA in advance and send them your idea afterwards. Nevertheless you will need to give them a teaser to make them interested.

My idea would be: film yourself, explaining the idea. Also make sure to capture everything you say them and when you said it, then upload it somewhere to a big website. That way, you couldn't change the upload date and everyone knows you had the idea first ;)

well we didnt really know what kind is you idea look like, is it something u can eat? or something to use or what, but if you really think it could work, just make a video and post it to online fund raising for personal project, people would get interesting and they funded to you

It's more complicated then sending the company an email. You need to have all your ducks in a row, talk to the lawyers about copyrighting the idea or trademarking it otherwise you just gave the company free fodder to make money. You also have to have a pitch, a really detailed outline of how this idea/product will make money. You have to do a hell of a lot of research about market forcast and many other things because as a company (lets say me and my technology company). Why am I going to buy the rights to your product if you don't have a hell of a lot of paperwork for me and my legal department to look through. It's very complex.

There isn't much that you can do to protect a "YouTube" idea. Barring things like show titles and most artwork, not much on YouTube is actually a protectable idea. It's also worth noting that companies don't buy ideas, certainly not unsolicited ideas. They buy well established proven ones. An idea is worth about as much as the cup of coffee you'd tell someone over.

If you have that great an idea, do it. Make it. Don't waste your time trying to sell it to someone.

Get in contact with one of the brand/talent managers at one of the big YouTube partnerships. That's how a lot of shows/series are now being produced through YouTube
