Laptop screen washing out face during live stream

Hey all, when I live stream in front of a computer I like to interact with comments. Buuuuuut the laptop screen shines a super bright light on my face that washes it out.

Anyone know how to reduce the shine on my face but still keep the screen legible for me?

Thanks!

Moved to the recording / editing / production / software / hardware forum. :)

Are you filming using a built-in webcam on your screen? The problem is that you have to have to position the screen so that it's directly facing you. - Maybe you could use an external webcam that is not positioned on your screen? :)

Thanks. And the camera is external. It's just that in order to read the screen with the comments, I have to have it close to my eyes and–consequently–the laptop shines on my face.

I'll let you guys know how it goes, but I just lowered my screen brightness to almost black for now. I can still see the comments but–man–it's hard to read.

I ordered a privacy screen that apparently reduces glare. We'll see how that works.
