Just found this audience retention information...

In my goal to learn everything I can about YouTube and its features and ways to promote and improve my channel I found the Audience Retention information. So the only problem with it is I'm clueless as to what are good stats. I assume that you automatically lose a good chunk of viewers right after the first 30 seconds. But whats good numbers for the rest of it? I typically seem to hold 50% or so of the viewers til near the end, but then it drops off to 30% by the very end. Is that a sign my videos may be bordering on the long side?

Personally I think If you can get 50% to watch all your bvideo then you're doing well! If they're dipping off right at the end you probably don't have much to worry about!

The key here is to use relevant titles/tags/descriptions for your videos. Tricking people to watch a vid pisses them off which leads to dislikes and quick exits.

Oh, and a loyal subscriber base.

Also, try not to make your vids too long; viewers have zero attention span. I have no idea how I manage a high retention considering a lot of my vids are approx 8-10 minutes. But that's where a loyal subscriber base comes in. Luckily, my subs are amazing and actually watch vids through.
