Just curious if you can do something about someone pestering you

About a month ago I watched this video that depicted a car wreck wherein some young girl lost her life while livestreaming and it was pretty rough, and some guy in the comments: "LOL"
So I asked him what he was laughing about. And he responded something smart back which, yeah okay he was just looking for attention, so I just let it go. And a couple weeks later, I got a comment from him on the same video, being snarky...and then another a few days later. And another. None of which I've responded to. Today I find he's been on my channel, downvoting my videos and name-calling in the comment sections...and its all pretty stupid really, absolutely not a big deal...but...its kind of weird, too.

I've had my channel for years, its only for my family and closest friends, really...and is just a little strange to have some stranger giving me a hard time there. I know people have bigger problems, I'm sorry for the waste of time in having to read this for people that do, but is there much can be done about something like this? Seems a little intrusive somehow, I don't know...dude definitely needs a hobby or something though, good Lord.

Yikes! Some people have way too much time on their hands to pester people like that... :( I would recommend blocking him:
Go to https://studio.youtube.com/
Click on Comments (left-hand menu) to view your channel comments
Find one of his comments -- next to his comment (towards the bottom-right-ish part of the comment), you'll see three vertical dots (...).
Click on the dots and select "hide user from channel" to block his comments.

Then, you can double-check your blocked users:
From YouTube Studio (https://studio.youtube.com/ )
Click on "Settings" in the left-hand menu
Click on "Community"
Check to see if his username is in the "Hidden Users" field.
Scroll down a little and there's also a "blocked words" section that is great for blocking curse words and nasty stuff. I like to stick other things in it that I don't want leaked in my comments section, like phone numbers, addresses, etc....

I don't think this will block him from down-voting your videos, but at least his mean comments on your own content will stop

First. Follow Katy's advice above. Second. If your channel is just for family, then change your videos from Public to Unlisted. Third, if you want a place where only authorized users can see your videos, upload your videos to Google Photos instead. Then create a shared album and invite your friends and family to it. This is a much better way to share personal videos than posting them on youtube because only people you invite can see your shared folder. I sometimes shoot weddings and do this for the wedding attendees. Everyone invited can also share their photos and vids of the wedding to the folder, so that the new couple can have them all in one place, instead of all over Facebook on 50 different accounts.

The best thing about Google Photos is that you get free unlimited storage and you get the most advanced search function on earth to locate your data on the account. Every single person, location and OBJECT in your photos and videos will become searchable. You can even name your pets and find them. Say have a dog named "Spot". Google Photos will ask you to name the dog, once you do this, every photo and video in which spot appears will be found under sPot's profile. Say you once took a picture of a ring, but can't find it. Just type in "Ring" in the search box, and every picture or video that a ring shows up in will be found. Even the words on objects that are in the video are searchable. I personally have over a million photos and videos on my personal account and it takes only seconds to find anything I am looking for.
