I've Got It
I've been afraid to post in this section because I'm so scared of the feedback but I'm trying to lose the fear of posting things. Plus you only get better with feedback and critique. IF you guys have time, could you tell me what you think of my newest video on my channel? EF COLLEGE BREAK LONDON! Video Blog

Any feedback will be much appreciated and super helpful. I'm making two other videos like this from the rest of the trip, Paris and London and would love to improve in these upcoming ones. Thank you for your time! :)

Hey there! Okay, so I'm going to be honest here like you asked. But don't take anything to heart! I just have a few notes that can help you improve your upcoming videos :)

1. Try to keep your videos no more than 5min if you can. I know that might be hard because of all the content you might have, but it helps keep your viewers more engaged and more likely to click on the video if it's shorter.

2. I know it might be too late since you already filmed. But when vlogging scenery or buildings it might be in your best interest to keep the camera still instead of walking and holding the camera because i know it's hard not to shake the camera.

- Also at 3:39, that elevator clip. You know how you muted the audio for that with the music you have in the background, you should do that for most of the video especially for scenery. So we can focus on what you are filming instead of the noise around it. And the song choice wasn't bad either, but I feel more ambient music would fit your style better. Search around creator studio more for a song that you think will fit the mood of the video.

3. I think you should add more of you talking, it would give us little updates on what happened or what your thoughts are at that current moment. Again, it might be a little late since you already recorded lol

4. Is there a reason you use Video Blog instead of Vlog? I'm only asking because there might a reason that i'm unaware of. But most identify the type of video by Vlog. Also, a lot of people might not know what EF is. So using the description box to your advantage, you can tell people about it. Because I wasn't sure what it was until i looked it up.

But that's all I really have for you! Everything else was good. I hope some of this helps :)

Omg thank you so much! This is all really helpful and I'm going to try to include this feedback in my next video. So do you think the same type of video should be 5 minutes? because I'm currently working on the Paris footage and I thought it seemed good but it's 10 min long. I put up a thread earlier today actually asking if people would watch a 10 minute vlog but maybe I am getting the terms mixed up? Is a vlog something where you're talking throughout the whole video? This time I thought it was better to not include music because I talk more throughout it. But maybe I should also record audio to put on top? I'm sorry for asking so many questions lol I don't mean to be a hassle. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch the video and write all this feedback for me :)

Yeah, I'm still trying to figure out what music I like for videos in general. I know I need to spend more time looking, I tend to get impatient looking through the YouTube audio library.

The shakiness was sooo bad and I didn't realize until after I recorded everything and I was so mad about it but at least I know for the next time I travel to keep everything steady.

Also thanks! I will MOST put what EF is in the description box. Didn't think about that :p

Yes, I think the same video should be 5min. But you don't have to of course, just a suggestion. You can always split it up into two parts if you want as well. But I know I've made some videos, and watched back and wished I could of taken some parts out because it was dragging a bit.

And a vlog is basically recording any experience in video form. You don't need to talk throughout the video for it to be a vlog though. And you can record video on top of the video if you want, but that's only if you want to explain something specific at a certain point. Other than that, it's not really needed.

And yeah, if you want to hold the camera a little bit more steady. The best tip i can give you that works for me is holding the camera closer to your body and keeping your arms nice and tight. It helps a lot!

And I saw you added that to your description box, nice!

And don't worry about asking too many questions! haha. That's how we improve! And yeah, going through the audio library one by one is a little tedious. If there's nothing you like in the audio library, you can always youtube search free copyright music with a specific word like travel or adventure, and a ton of things will pop up. Sometimes they will have links to download the song, but be careful with those. Always check the comments before trying to download it.

Thank you so much for all the helpful feedback and tips, I will definitely use these and keep these in mind when editing :)

Hey so this video has some really good content in it! your life seems really interesting and I could defiantly see people watching this! I do completely agree with keeping it around 5 minuets! You don't want to have a ten or eleven minuet long video because people who are new to a channel have a really low attention span when watching videos so you want to make sure you can keep them engaged and watching for as long as possible and watch as much of the video you can possibly get them to watch! Now when you have a bigger fan base of say a couple hundred thousand subscribers then you can start making longer videos because you already have a big fanbase that really enjoys the videos you are putting out and are the most likely to sit through a 10 minuet long Vlog! I do also think that keeping your camera a little bit more still when you are getting shots of landmarks or stuff like that is a good idea and cutting that background noise with music really helps the viewer focus on the landmarks and views you are trying to show! I think when you don't have have clips of landmark footage and music rolling, you should defiantly be talking to the camera and letting everyone see the real you! Yes the views London are great, But you are more interesting and most people are going to want to see you and learn more about you! that is also have you gain more fans by showing the genuine and amazing you! hope this helps a little:) defiantly will subscribe though to see you progress and cuz I enjoyed your video :p haha

Omg haha thank you so much! This is incredibly helpful feedback! Yes, actually I tried including a lot of the things you suggested in the video if you'd like to take a look, it's out now :) You just have to click on my channel button and it should be there. It's called "My First Time in Paris VLOG || 2016" I'd love to hear your feedback now that I've cut it down a bit and actually did show more clips of me talking and goofing off with the friends I made on the trip. I cut it down to 7 min which I don't think is too long but I'm not sure because I know I'm biased haha IF it seems like its dragging I'm really gonna try to shoot for the last one in the "series", to be 5 MINUTES haha It's Barcelona.

I completely aggree with you on the fan base part, that's why I was so unsure for this video when it was 10 minutes long. I don't really have too many subscribers and I'm hoping to consistently upload so that I can. But THANK YOU again! I really appreciate the feedback so much[DOUBLEPOST=1481408779,1481408632][/DOUBLEPOST]

Hi! If you're interested to know what the finished product is, it's up on my channel now. It's called "My First Time in Paris VLOG 2016 || EF College Break". I cut it down to 7 minutes haha but I'd love to hear your feedback on this too if you have time! To see if it's too long, I have a third final video in the "series" on Barcelona so I can keep making more adjustments and keep trying to make it better. But thank you again for all your help and advice! Very much appreciated :)

Much better! I like the way you titled it too. And I like the much added parts of you talking about what you were doing!!! Even though it's 7min, it was entertaining all the way through. If I were to nit pick a bit, the first music piece you chose was good, I liked it. I thought it fit the mood. But the second piece of music, the one you were going up the Eiffel Tower, that music was a bit iffy to me. Not that it was bad, but it didn't fit the mood quite as well for me (mostly because hear that song in every DIY video and I can't not hear it in a non DIY video lol, so it might just be me). And I liked the last song you chose for the ending, that was perfect. So overall, well done, I enjoyed it a lot! :)
