The audio on my videos is not that great and I could use a new mic but can't afford a good one right now. Can I enable fan funding so my supporters can help me get this and make better videos?

Thanks.

You can but you need your channel monetization enabled and reside in one of the participating countries: Australia, France, Japan, Mexico, Spain, United Kingdom and United States.

Yeah! That's what is there for :)
Yes but can I say that is what it is for or do I just ask nicely for donations? The YouTube page seems like it says you can't.

See:

You may not use Fan Funding to solicit or accept:

  • Voluntary Payments induced by fraudulent or misleading representations
  • Voluntary Payments for political causes
  • Voluntary Payments as Charitable donations
  • Voluntary Payments for your Service if any part of it violates these Terms or any applicable laws, rules or regulations.
  • Voluntary Payments for any other service or for goods or any other valuable consideration.
  • Voluntary Payments for the purpose of funding a specific goal, project or purchase.
  • Voluntary Payments of less than US$1 or that exceed US$500 per day, per user (these limits may slightly vary due to currency exchange fluctuations)

"Fan Funding is a way for viewers to make voluntary payments to you for uploading content to YouTube, not to fund a specific goal in the future.

It’s okay to ask for support by saying something like:

"Hey if you love my channel I would love your support! I’ll use the funds for my upcoming tour!"
But you can’t say something like:

"Fund my upcoming tour!""
[DOUBLEPOST=1437253862,1437251722][/DOUBLEPOST]The line:

"Voluntary Payments for the purpose of funding a specific goal, project or purchase."

Seems like it disallows this use.

I can't use fan funding because I am in the UK, but from what I've seen you can just put it on and if anyone wants to donate on your channel page they can. I don't think you really need to explain it as you would do with patreon or something like that.

Sorry, isn't it available in UK?

I don't really see a problem here, basically when they decide to fund you they are basically supporting the channel. That's also new equipment that you use for the channel!

yes you can. I do it using Patreon or directly to my PayPal (Fan Funding not available in my country).
