Would I receive a claim if I found a song that I liked on YouTube such as a song by Drake for example: Looked for a non copyrighted remix and later uploaded that remix with my YouTube video.

I really wouldn't recommend it, you never know with YouTube. There are loads of royalty free songs out there, it is probably best you use some of them.

I highly doubt there is a non-copyrighted remix of a Drake song out there since the original artist gets credit even in a remix. If by some miracle there is non-copyrighted version, it probably wouldn't stay that way for long so you'd just be setting yourself up for copyright issues down the line.

There's no such thing as a non copyrighted remix. They're either authorized (using the copyright with permission) or non-authorized (already in violation of copyright).

Without permission from the original artist, you would be in violation of copyright and at risk of your video being pulled (or worse).[DOUBLEPOST=1432084495,1432084388][/DOUBLEPOST]
You don't want to risk them taking you down, corporations amirite

Nothing to do with corporations. Everything to do with using another artist's work without their permission.

What's the deal with that these days anyway? Have they started prosecuting people or something? I haven't even thought of videos in almost a year I have no idea what's going on.

Think ahead, I understand.

Shaky Cow is correct. All derivative works fall to the original copyright holder. If the work is public domain, the remix can be copyrighted as long as it's not a "slavish copy". If the original work is released under a creative commons license, then it depends on the license. So unless the part of the remix you want to use are public domain or CC it would not be safe to use.

Additionaly... the whole copyright process is automated due the sheer volume of content uploaded to youtube. If a large copyright holder believed it was the owner of a pd or cc song... then you still might be in for a fight.
