CPU: AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz 8-Core
CPU Cooler Cooler: Master Hyper TX3 54.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 ATX AM3+
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3-1600
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM
Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon HD 7970 3GB

This is the parts list for a PC I plan to make. Can anyone tell me if the parts will be good for, playing games, editing videos, and doing 3d animation. I also plan to OC the CPU to 4.2

Games I plan to play:
Minecraft
Batman arkam city
Battlefield 3
COD BO2
Sanctum 2

If you feel that the PC will not be able to run things well enough plz give me suggestions on how I can improve it.

If you're planning on making videos, you need a second harddrive. Or perhaps even a third. Here's how I have my system set up.

200GB Solid State drive which Windows and my non-game software (Premiere, Audition, FRAPS, etc).

1TB storage drive which contains my games, movies, music, etc.

200gb FRAPS dump drive, onto which all raw video footage is put.

By keeping all of these drives separate, you never run into a time where you're recording footage to the same drive your computer is trying to read other information from. While the third drive is not needed, a second one is a higher priority than your 16GB of RAM. If cost is a problem, drop the RAM to 8GB and get a second drive to record video footage to. I promise, the quality increase is worth it.

you've only got a 200gb dump drive? That's not a lot to be fair :L if @OP is going to use another drive for a Fraps/HDPVR dump drive I would go for a nice 1TB 7200RPM HD.

Using FRAPS, you'll get about 2-3 minutes of video per 4GB file at 1080p. Personally I find that 2 hours of recorded footage is plenty.

You could put some more money into your CPU if possible, everything else looks good. If you plan on recording videos while playing, you may want to invest in a second TB hardrive. Also, make sure the socket numbers match between the CPU and Motherboard.

One more detail and this may seem rude but it's the simple truth... given that you are asking if these parts are good for what you need, you do not know enough to overclock it. Don't get into that until you know a lot more about hardware.
