Is prizes for subscribers considered wrong

So quick question. My wife and I were considering giving away Xbox games to subscribers. Contest would be simple, subscribe and post one comment on a single video and your enrolled in the contest for a free Xbox game of your choice. We figured we would launch the contest at the launch of our weekly Vlog/Podcast series which should be begining this weekend. But I didnt know if this was considered "gaming" stats, or was against ToS. Also before everyone says it, the ultimate goal would be a 50% subscriber retain rate once the contest ends, we're tracking some people would only sub for it and then leave. But 50% retain would be our overall goal.

So is this allowed?

Well we're not looking at straight begging for subs, would be a simple situation of our subscribers are enrolled. Yes I know the effect in the end is the same, but how is giving away prizes to subscribers frowned upon, but begging for them every video the norm. Is it just the act of giving a prize that makes it frowned on?

Big channels like xJawz and Whiteboy7thst got some serious fan flame for give aways, however wording it correctly like 'subscriber giveaway' makes it more acceptable, that way you're not begging, you're letting them know it's subscriber only

no it is against the rules to intise subs for a contest when making a competition you should always tate it is for fun ETC. i suggest you say to go on fb and host your competition there that way you will not be gaining "ghost subs" for stuff anyway its the views u want not the subs as much :)

exactly what rogue ninja said
make a Facebook fanpage, because then, that's a much better way to post content to, if someone comments, then their friends will see their comment and potentially click on you too.

I've seen many pages go viral because of freebies
a lovely picture of the chance to win £50 in exchange for sharing + liking a page is VERY attractive, especially to a student community.
and ppl will share it because it's a decent prize to win!

so maybe consider money instead the game and once the comp is over, well, you will have many new likes, and maybe some of them will see your posts won't they :) and click videos and maybe even subscribe because they like what they see

Indeed Rogue Ninja summed it up perfectly. People frown on this a lot because 7 out of 10 channels that "give away" stuff usually never do and just use it to get subs. I like what you guys are doing though...giving away xbox games to fans! I think its awesome. I hope it takes off for you either way.

Hmmm I wonder if i could do it combination style. Like A Like(on facebook), a Sub, a youtube comment and a follow on twitter is all a entry. If you hit up all three your entered 4 times into the contest. Then I'm not just outright asking for subs or anything, but allowing for multiple entrys. If it really takes off like crazy could just get multiple games for prizes or something.
