Is photo resolution a huge deal in youtube vids?

I've always read that photo res is not important for viewing on the web and 72 dpi is fine.
Is this also the case for youtube vids? If I'm adding stills to an hd video I would think there would be an advantage to using higher res photos but how high is optimal without compromising video loading time.
Thanks

Here's one I posted today. I'll be doing 4 or 5 similar vids featuring different house plans. The stills come in around 1:10 into the vid.
These are very low res photos and the video stalls for me throughout.

just try to make it 720p HD or higher, then you know for sure your video resolution turns out good ;)

As far as i know resolution will always add more time when you render the video, there is no way to avoid that. If you want to do it faster you should choose a lower resolution. But i recommend 720p as a standard since many people really see the diffrence between almost HD and full HD

It depends on what format you're editing/rendering/uploading in. The photos shouldn't stall the video as when it's rendered it becomes part of the video and of the same quality rather than being a separate entity. I don't really think the dpi matters that much, but it should be clear enough so that it isn't blurry when stretched to whatever your video resolution is.
