Is making an Outro Simple enough

I assume that in my editor, I can place the short track of music, and then any pictures I put in can then last as long as the track does?

Correct, when making an outro, you can use a simple image, and a song lets say 15 seconds, all you have to do is drag and drop, and drag the image to last as long as the audio track, finally if you a fade in, and fade out.

You could make a more interactive one, depending on the software.

For instance, as well as images, you can put videos on outros if making in Adobe Premiere Pro. These can then be linked to other videos or similar content.
