Is location important for the reach ?

Hello
I'm starting a youtube channel about Science and Philosophy. I live in Africa in DR Congo, and since there is at best 2 people interested in this in the whole country, I'm afraid that I can't go far if the location counts

if it does, shoul I use a VPN to post from Europe or North America or elsewhere ?

Thank you :)

I'd have though you should be ok posting just with you're current location, i'm UK based yet the biggest audience is Americans for me, so I guess that suggests youtube still recommends outside of you're geographic area.

I guess the main consideration would be to make sure you post videos at a good time zone for people in europe and north america, although if my memory of geography is correct DRC must be pretty much in line with europe so you must be a similar timezone anyway?

I understand your concerns but I don't advise using a VPN - If YouTube detects it, they will interpret it as you trying to hide something or even they might think you are trying to trick the algorithm or something.

It's the internet. There aren't really any borders so I don't think location is important. So long as your content and metadata is targeting the language / location that you want as your audience, you'll be fine. :)
