Is It Worth Being Partnered To A Network or YouTube?

I have been partnered to RPM for almost a year my contract is near its end hear in a month or so and I don't know if I will renew it or go with another network or just partner with YT and do it on my own. I mean my network has been great, they featured an episode of me in one of the earlier RPM Spotlight videos and have given me a platform but I wonder if that can be achieved elsewhere without given up a portion of my earnings. I am beginning to wonder if networks are overrated or if mine really doesn't give the desired support because they are smaller. Or maybe my expectations of a network are skewed, who knows, what are your thoughts? And what Network would you recommend and why?

Since you're not a gamer you could probably get away with a standard YouTube partnership and not have to worry about the cut. If you keep your demographic niche you could probably pull off an okay cpm. However, depending on the network, you can get higher cpms for your ads. So having said that, if you find a good network with good ad buys then the split shouldn't be an issue because you'll be technically making more than you would with YouTube.

Also promotion with a standard YouTube partnership is all on you and who you know. That's what "good" networks should be able to do is help give you that extra push and gain you extra exposure. If they aren't doing that then in my opinion they are definitely not worth it.

It's all about what you think is good and if you feel that you benefit from it.

What you can do is. Contact other networks and tell them that your contract is about to expire and ask them what deal they can give to you. The same goes for RPM. Tell them that you want to negotiate your contract before you renew. With that method you can work out whats best for YOU. Networks always base their contracts on whats best for them.

True, surprisingly renegotiating never crossed my mind. I may do that considering I also have referred several channels to their network and get a cut of their profits, renegotiating could bridge that gap for me. Thanks

Thanks for the feedback :) what network would you recommend for a channel like mine?

hmm. well definitely do your research because everyone will have biased opinions. However, me personally I am with N4Gtv and they are in the works of great things. They do what they can to help promote and they are for the partners instead of for their money. Now on the downside they are still a new network so they don't have a huge following but they are continually growing at a pretty quick rate. So I am with them for the promotion aspects. As for the payout I haven't been with them long enough to tell you much but from what I hear it's good for a sub network.

On another note, I was one of the original YouTube partners for roughly 3-4 years before I decided to make the switch to networks. So having worked on both sides of the spectrum I for one am okay giving up a little bit of my earnings to help my channel grow. Think of it from a business perspective. You have to spend money to earn money xD

True you have to spend money to make money I will def weigh my options

If you're good enough without it, I say don't do it. I don't think Thrashimation will ever sign up with a network, but I'm not 100% sure yet (if any want to contact us at any time :) ).
