Is it true?

Firstly, sorry if I have put this in the wrong section, wasn't sure where t put it.

What I'd ike to know is is it true that you can use upto 10 seconds or something of a song in a monetized video without problems?

Reason I am asking is I need about 10 seconds of a song in the video I am recording tomorrow but not sure if I can do it. I have seen other youtubers use a few seconds of a song in their videos that are monetized

Thanks in advance

Rob

No it isn't true.

There is no minimum amount of something you can use. It may be short enough for YouTubes content ID system not to pick up on, but legally it is still copyrighted and you are using it without permission.

I've seen cases where ContentID matches much much shorter than 10 seconds. :) It's playing with fire, even though it has some potential under fair use doctrine, depending on the content.
