Hey guys ! ^^

I was wondering if any of you have some experiences with growing your youtube channel from your instagram account (or any social media I guess !)

I recently started to use instagram everyday to promote my art and I gained a lot of subscribers fast ! Almost 350 so far ! This is awesome, don't get me wrong, but I'm wondering if I promote my art channel enough, since what I'm really into is doing youtube videos !

Do you guys have any tips to redirect people from your social media to your youtube channel :) ?

Thanks a lot for taking the time to read my post ^^

I am just beginning to use Instagram, but already have followers. How are you using it to promote your Channel? Do you put any info in description or text over images?

Quick answer - not really.
Long answer - it depends.

The first few months of our channel, I spent hours and hours on Instagram building followers (follow4follow), doing shoutouts, interacting, commenting, etc, etc. We got it up to 5k followers over 3-4 solid months I think. Some posts had up to 150 likes. How many people went over to Youtube? Perhaps 1-2 clicks per post. The most ever was like 5.

The problem with social media, is people use the network they like and they are very sticky to it. It's hard to get them to click over. So on Instagram it's mostly kids doing selfies and their family pics and their pets. That's what they like. They have very little incentive to leave the stream and head over to another app and watch a 10 minute video when they get satisfaction from interacting 5 seconds with a post.

The exception would be those channels who develop a persona, and people watch them irrespective of what videos they put out. Instagram could then serve as a peak into their behind the scenes life, or something like that. For this, i would say build up your Yt channel to decent subs, then when people watch you for you, they might be interested in following a differnet side of you on Instagram.

And don't get be started on Facebook. If I'm in the right mood, I can go on and on about that greedy behemoth.

I have gotten a couple subs from Instagram. I am new to this whole youtube thing and pretty much begged people lol.
I started my weightloss instagram before youtube though so I had about 800 followers and directed them to the link in my instagram bio (since you are allowed only 1 clickable link instagram and it goes in your bio)

If you can get a big following then it will supplement your views from other sources a bit. To be honest, I'm still trying to figure out the best communities to network and share on. Forums are one of the better places, provided you follow their rules.

I am also new to YT and trying to find my way through social media, and indeed, their rules can be confusing. One approach will be met with great response on one, and will get you ban on other. Frustrating part is lack of clear guidelines. I guess it's a learning curve.

On instagram I put name on the channel over the image and brief but honest description. Within a day or two I had 30 followers, so I thought "wow, it will be great" but I stopped posting for couple days and now I struggle to regain momentum. I think frequency and consistency is key here.

That was such a good answer ! Thanks a lot for taking the time to share your experience ! And yeah... I don't think FB is the way to go ... It's way more easy to be seen on Instagram !

I think a lot of people are there to like pets and family pics, but I tried to ''target'' other art channel to like and follow, so I think I get more back than if I would like and follow pets and baby pictures.. well.. anyways thanks for the answer again ! I looked at your channel ! And it's the cutest thing ever !! <3[DOUBLEPOST=1476025969,1476025548][/DOUBLEPOST]

If you want you can go on my instagram and see (@DoodlingCats). First, in the description (right to the ''profile'' picture) I said something like :

✖ Youtube Art ✖
And the link is here

Also, everytime I post something that I have a video on (because sometimes I do art and I don't videotape myself, since I post everyday, it would be hard to edit and such). I would say something like :

New serie on my youtube channel : How to draw them all ! (Emoji of the camera) Please go check it out (Link bio!)

I also recently started to post little sneak peak of the actual video on instagram (like 30 secondes) and I say in the description... to see full video go on my youtube channel! Or something like that :)

social media is not necessary to grow a wildly successful channel. I believe social media is a waste of time. Time is better spent learning best practices.

It is possible my most popular video got over 28k views cuz i commented on a facebook video that was about the Viner/Youtuber Lance Stewart almost cutting his entire pinky off playing Real Life Fruit Ninja so i commented on his video telling him to feel better thant he's not alone cuz i lost my pink finger on my birthday when i was young and boy did alot of people commented on it and give it so many likes most of the comments were people saying it was photoshop or that i have weird fingers but that dont bother me

I think if you do really well on instagram, it can translate to some youtube videos but I haven't seen much if anything from it so far as for myself.
