Is it OK to critique music and play it as reference?

Well the title pretty much sums it up. I'm going to start a serious to critique famous songs, I'm wondering if since I'm critiquing can I use play part of the music that I'm pertaining to as a reference? I'm not playing the full song....
 
I assume that would come under the same laws as if you were critiquing a film or game. You're allowed to use clips to help enhance your critique, otherwise companies could censor all any bad reviews. I can't link it here but Google search fair use laws and look for the section on Commentary and Criticism. Hope this helped :)
