is it good for a channel under 1000 subs to monetize their videos?

Sub counts are irrelevant, but I wouldn't monetize videos before you start averaging 30,000 views a month.

Nah I don't think its worth it, it just looks like you are doing it for money. Wait until you are getting thousends of views a day on your channel and have a good sized fanbase

For me, monetizing early taught me things about content creation standards.

What would you learn differently?

Views would be (roughly) the same and, if something violated copyright, it would be flagged regardless if a video is monetized or not.

Monetizing early made me much more cautious about copyrighted content for that reason. On my old Youtube channel, I'd just record and post whatever, and didn't care if it was copyrighted. I can't do that on my current channel and I wanted to be more professional about my videos on this channel.

Plus, I'm a closet geek for Youtube Analtyics and ad revenue. I just find watching the numbers so much fun, as weird as it sounds.
