Is it ever worth it to join a network?

I keep getting messages about "you should join our network" and all of that jazz. For one I'm not really that popular of a youtuber and I doubt I ever will be with my specific content. I do manage to get a lot of views and I am close to 2K subscribers but it seems that every time I try to research joining a network it's a scam. I've been sent messages from a bunch of places that promise more money/views but when I look up that specific company I always see people are unhappy with it or it's some kind of money making scheme. I've seen a lot of people on these forums say to never sign with a network because you are better off on your own, but I've also seen people say some networks actually are helpful (not that I've seen them mention WHAT networks are helpful). I'm a realistic/logical person so I guess by default my brain automatically assumes anyone offering me that is trying to scam me since I am not hugely popular. Is it a good idea to join a network and I mean ever? Or would I always have a better shot just staying on my own and using other ways to promote myself (of which I have plenty currently)

For what you do, I don't see a network helping you.

People who join networks to make more money are often the first ones complaining it's a scam when they don't which is why so many, even the good ones, have a bad reputation.

Depending on the network, they could offer a music library for you to use, better tools to see and understand your channel, offer a supporting community, or, for gamers, make it less likely their content is flagged.

One thing they typically won't do is get you millions of subscribers or views, heavily promote you, or earn you more income...and why should they? Promotion costs a lot of money and, unless their share of your revenue is in the hundreds or thousands a month, it's not worth it to them.

Thanks for the reply. I'm more interested in promotion than making money because I'm more interested in my content being viewed in order to educate people than really becoming famous. I mean fame is nice and everything but it's more important to me that my information get out. I don't make a lot as it is and I'm aware I probably never will unless it's from an outside opportunity but youtube might give me that outside opportunity. I also have fun doing it anyway so yeah.

First off, every network is not scam, but u should know that after giving em permission, even YouTube won't do anything regarding unlinking your channel from em, alternatively saying, if MCN don't want, you won't be able to leave their network.

It's not like that there's no advantage joining a MCN but neither they're growing your channel and generate more views/subscribers for you. Why would they do it for you. lf any MCN claiming that, it's scamming in an way.

I don't think you need a partnership unless you want to use certain music without copyright. Different networks have different music libraries they allow you to use. Other than that, I don't really see much benefit in terms of promotion for smaller channels. They may have a message board similar to this that has members of the network. I think they put it on you talk and "network" with other people through information sharing or collabs.

I tend to be able to find collaborations and people to help me on my own just fine. I've been promoted by several people who are more popular than me already so I don't see much of a point to joining a network if I don't really NEED to.
