Is it bad to be a small channel with monitized videos?

So I think I've pretty much always had my videos monitized, I'm not sure why, since I'm obviously not going to be earning basically anything from my videos.. But I just felt like I 'needed' too, or that I should??

So, now, I do want to monitize my videos, but not in a selfish way, I am actually planning to do a giveaway with my very first 'paycheck' from YouTube, for my subscribers.. whenever that will be (very far in the future I'm sure!)

What is your opinion on a very small YouTuber having monitized videos?


(also, since I don't have a huge banner on my YouTube that says 'I'M GONNA DO A GIVEAWAY WHEN I GET PAYED THE FIRST TIME!! I'M NOT A MONEYGRABBER I SWEAR!!' nobody would actually know about that, so I guess... Ignore that part? thats just my personal story)

Thats an interesting idea to giveaway your first paycheque- how is that going to work?

We have not monetized our channel because at this stage there didn't seem to be any point.

There is nothing wrong with monetizing your videos at any time. You may not get anything from it for a very long time (I only got my first deposit from Google after a year's worth of videos, and I have yet to earn enough for the next check), but why not see if you can make some money from it? The platform offers monetizatiion, so take advantage of it, if you want!

Well I was planning on buying some stuff and doing 2 or 3 packs of different stuff for different people to win, if that makes sense? I don't know how I'd do a giveaway with the actual money though! Maybe a voucher? haha

You know that only views matters with monetized video's. If you get more than 1000 views a day of course i would monetized my video's regardless the amount of subs you have.

It does seem like a fun idea to see how long it takes before you can get a cheque... Do you think adverts put off potential subs/viewers?

Thats true! I've been on YouTube for like 2.5-3 years and I'm no where near a paycheck (and I honestly don't mind!) so it's gonna be a while!
