Is it a good idea to join a Network. If so When ?

Hey guys i have been doing some research and saw some big and small channels joining networks. What is the cons and pros of these why should we do it, when should we do it. I see a lot of people just getting scammed of from Networking companies. I hope you guys can share your experience and give tips and tricks.
