Is CPM/RMP individual?

Ehzool

Liking YTtalk
Right now it says my RMP on Adsense is $1.79, does that mean everybody else who is making YouTube videos is making that same amount? Or is that just for me?

I'm pretty sure it changes for everybody but what exactly influences that rate? Is there a way to increase it or is it just random? And is it changes automatically via computer calculations or actual humans analyzing my content?

Every video is different- let alone every channel.

What your content is, where its watched, length of video, and demographics of viewers all drastically effect the CPM.

For example, ads watched in the US, Western Europe or Australia will pay significantly more than ads watched elsewhere.

It is just you. Every single video and channel has a different amount and a lot of factors contribute to that value like what ad's you have, length, and what Shakycow mentioned.

Ah alright, so shorter videos tend to help in terms of higher CPM?

Because YouTube's algorithm favors watch time not views. The longer the video and the more is watched the better you will do in terms of CPM . It also depends who is watching, what ad, Etc. It gets kind of crazy, but remember Watch-time is VERY important when it comes to this :)

But dont longer videos promote people leaving sooner? Lots of people have time to watch a 4 minute video but not many people have time to watch a 15 minute video.

Not necessarily, if the people are engaged through the whole video they will stay. YouTube finds people who will watch a video make up their mind in the first 15 seconds to a minute so if you don't have them there the length won't matter. Also "time" is relative and some people will make it for their favorite YouTubers it just depends. Now like CPM it depends on video by video some people will stay for 15 minutes some won't some think 4 is too long so :p Just really depends who has clicked.
