Is a custom thumbnail neccesary..?

I'd rather leave it alone until I'm officially partnered and yes I do know how to do them without the partnership but sometimes the thumbnail changes back to what it was after I chop off the extended image in the youtube editor. Plus youtube has to process the edits which takes awfully long for some reason. So I'd rather wait until youtube gives me the option of a custom thumbnail.

Personally I wouldnt bother unless the custom thumbnail feature was available to me, it is too much work in my opinion.

Well they are meant to be coming soon for everyone without monetisation so you can look forward to that Maybe spend your extra time you gain from not doing all the work on getting the thumbs right on extra promotion, thats what I would do.
