Intros: SIlent still image vs complex video

Hi all YTtalkers.

I see a lot of new Youtubers going for long and complex intro videos that look really nice but more than often either won't fit into their style of the rest of the video or be qualitywise way above the rest.
I feel this not only gives bad reputation for your own channel but also makes you correlate a over hyped intro on a small channel with lackluster content. I've been trying out all kinds of different intros for my videos ranging from 10 second super edited to no intro at all.
I like the way Kripparian does his intros, a silent still image. It really gives all the information you need and don't take your concentration or valuable time.

What do you guys think of this and what are your strategy concidering intros?

The intro should just introduce, not being a video per se. A simple logo with a jingle should be enough. For instance, my intro is just the channel name fading in and out, with in case another short 5 seconds image/text/logo detailing what the video is about if it belongs to a specific serie.

I think short intros are good (only a few seconds). I don't use one now, but I've been thinking I could use one to somehow indicate the pets in my video are from an animal shelter. Video Creators starts his video by telling what the video will be about, has his intro, then goes on with the video. I like that approach as well.
