Hi Everyone,
today I have a short question about relative audience retention.
To the best of my knowledge relative audio retention in youtube analytics measures the retention rate of your video compared to other 'similar' videos on youtube.
However, I dont really know what 'similar' means.
Does 'similar' mean that they compare your video against all other videos with similar length???
Or does youtube analytics also take into account your type of content/niche and other factors???
If they only compare your videos with other videos of similar length, relative retention is basically worthless information since I rather want to know how my videos perform relative to other youtubers in my niche or country.
For example, I have a channel about kids-toys and I think that the attention span of kids is different from the attention span of adults. Also, viewers from country A probably have a different attention span then from country B... and males have a different attention span then females.
Therefore, a simple comparison of your videos with all other videos of similar length is pointless, since I rather want to know how I perform relative to other kids-toy channels.
By the way, are there any other kids-channels around who want to share their retention rates?????
Please let me know what you think.
