Interesting Thumbnails for my Piano Lessons

Hi everyone,

This is my first thread. :).

I'd like to ask for advice on designing thumbnails. I've been wondering what sort of thumbnails to make for my piano lessons. A lot of the people in the forum have really exciting and colorful videos, which makes creating attractive thumbnails for them (relatively) easy. But what about those of us who have videos which are a lot more ... subdued? Almost all of my thumbnails include some shot of the piano, usually with my hands playing, but that doesn't really tell the viewer anything about what the video is about, except that it has a piano in it and somebody's playing. It also means almost all of my videos have very similar thumbnails.

How would you approach this?

have the thumbnail say piano lesson and what ever that lesson is for.[DOUBLEPOST=1381994979,1381994838][/DOUBLEPOST]Do you not have the custom thumbnail option? looking at your channel the thumbnails all look like stills from the video.

Have something that shows the viewer what they can expect. You can do this by making it yourself in Photoshop or some other art program.

Also, include something that can differentiate the video from each other. Like, perhaps, include the chords that you will be covering in the video.

I could make the thumbnails for you. I have a package of 10 thumbnails which is just £2 or 20 for £3 or 50 for £5. I also make cheap banners and logos if you need.

Thanks for the ideas, guys. You got me inspired working on my thumbnails - I'm making a mixture of text and piano photos. I'll report later if that made a difference.

I agree, adding text to your thumbnails can attract attention. Also, just make sure you gear them towards the audience you are trying to attract. Kids lessons you could use brighter colors, etc. Adult lessons keep them more professional looking. Good luck!

Bright colors that stand out at a small size, large writing stating what the lesson is about, and show some piano keys and stuff.
