Initially uploading as private then publishing does not notify subscribers?

Is this a Fact or a Myth? Thanks for shedding some light into this as I've always set my videos as private first then choose to publish later * worried *

I don't think so...I think you have to reupload them. I know that it was a bug a while back that people were exploiting

I believe it's a myth. I always upload as private and set to public at a later time and my videos show up in emails to my subscribers and their front page.

That would be a major oversight on Youtube's part, I wouldn't want to believe it. In your video manager next to the "private" icon with the padlock, when you go public it usually takes a moment and then turns into a globe. I always take that as the sign that it's been posted to your subscribers.

You could always create a second Google / Gmail account... Subscribe to your own channel, activate Notifications and test it out.

If the video is private and has never been public before and you change the privacy to public, it will notify your subscribers unless you choose not to notify them.
