I'm having quite an issue with my subscribers and views on my channel. I have 420 subscribers yet still am lucky to get 20/30 views in a week or two. Surely if I have 420 subscribers at least half of the subscribers should view my videos and considering that people who are not subscribed will also view the videos I should really be looking at least a hundred views per video? Anybody have any advice on what I could do to gain some active subscribers who will comment on and share my videos etc. ? Thanks :-)

The rule of thumb is that 10-20% of any subscriber count will be 'active' on your channel. Good example is PewdiePie - he has 11 million subs, and approx 1 million views initially on each video.

There is nothing you can do, apart from try and gain new subscribers or find out why they subscribed and try to produce similar content. Quite a few people tend to subscribe because they watch a really good video that was entertaining, funny or informative, but likely have a load of subscription. The bad thing about this is that lots of videos get pushed down, and depending the amount of subscriptions the subscriber has, they may not have the time to scroll down to have a look at all the videos released since they last checked.

Also, they may have just moved onto another account, or not use YouTube anymore.

Pretty much what Frankie said, the good majority of your subscribers won't watch your videos depending on what it is. For instance, I have 131 subscribers at the moment and Hardcore Survival series will get around 50 views per video, whereas my Hunger Games will get around 90+! :)

Wow. Maybe I was being a bit naive thinking that half of my subscribers will view my videos haha. Anyway thanks! :)[DOUBLEPOST=1375703734,1375703574][/DOUBLEPOST]

Yeah, That's exactly what my subscriptions are like haha. I would like my channel to get to the point where it's good enough that people will go to youtube to type in my channel name and see what new videos I have up. :) Thanks!

Inactive subs is always a problem! I have quite a few inactive subs! I don't know if you can get them taken off your profile as youtube are meant to get rid of them automatically as far as im aware.

Inactive subs in my opinion are not a problem, and here's my opinion on why.

Yes your views dwindle, but this is expected. You'll never have a fanbase of 100% activity. As well, you rank in searches from things like views, relativity, and subs. YouTube even has their own 'popular channels' section that you see around. So if you think about it, tons of inactive subs will get you higher on the searches, bringing your channel to potential active subs. The inactives will help you without even intentionally helping you. :)

Yeah man, they key is to try and engage your subs when you notice your growing a lot, this way you may be able to strike some form of relationship with them and ultimately engage them to stay active. Thats what I've been able to do and I have about 50% of my subs watching each video

Ask questions on your video, something semi controversial to get them to comment and hopefully get into a full on heated discussion with your other subs...
