Improve old thumbnails or leave them as they are?

This might sound like kind of a weird question, because i know its better to have the best thumbnails possible. But I if i leave my old thumbnails as they are, people can see how they have improved over time. What do you guys think?

I'm going to go against the grain...I updated a number of my thumbnails and those videos have been suddenly doing a lot better than when I originally posted them a few months ago, so it can be worthwhile to update them. Sure, you can see the progression of who you were at the beginning, but that's only if someone comes directly to your channel, but what if your thumbnail comes up in search results? You want to put the best face forward each time someone reaches your content, no matter how they find it.

I'm also all for changing thumbnails. If you want to look at them to check your improvement, I would just recommend having them saved on your pc. It helps with a bit of branding to change as many thumbnails as you can.

I always improve them as it's needed. Some thumbnails are good but after 1-3 months, you feel that some can use a touch up to refresh them. I don't forget older videos so also no older thumbnails cause they usually cause the view at the first place. (Not always but most of the time)

As you said its better for showcase, if you ever watched minecraft video from YogsCast just look at their old videos, they don't even have the thumbnails and are mid popular but than later on minecraft is what got the popular and forced Lewis to learn how to make quality thumbnails! :)
