Improv Vs Scripted

Tom Stevenson

Who knows what I do!
Hey Guys,

I just wanted to see your guys opinions on this. Anyone who Follows CharlieIsSoCoolLike will see that he is a script freak, but recently has done a couple of non scripted ones.
I work better non scripted, I think it feels more natural. I feel scripted looks a bit TOO polished and sometimes wooden.

I just want opinions!

Personally i love improvising, i have so much in my mind that i want to let out, if i had a script i'd always forget it. :'3
I like watching both, though! :'D

I do a little script so I know roughly an idea what I'm going to say but I felt scripted is better as you have less wasted minutes you have to edit out

I like to get a basic script out of all the general points I wanna make and then riff from there ^___^. It's much better to come out with stuff that feels natural when you've got something to go off otherwise you run the risk of umming and erring throughout. I know I do anyways. I'd say it'd be a 40/60 favouring improv with most of my stuff (except the ukulele of course, that's gotta be rehearsed!). I have a tendency to go off topic pretty quickly 'cause my brain wanders so I've gotta keep my thoughts in check somehow or a video about the ukulele could turn into a video about cake pretty quickly >__<

I love to improvise, but I don't know if that means I'm missing out on some funny things to say. I've done both improvised and Scripted live comedy before, they get equal laughs, but I think for different reasons!

I Bullet point, I like to brainstorm the main idea. I'm just trying to move away from trying to squeeze my stand up comedy into 'vlogs', and start vlogging! I just need to think about what I'm saying more if its not joke after joke :/[DOUBLEPOST=1373845057,1373844950][/DOUBLEPOST]

See Even when I do my ukulele/music its mostly improvised, then recorded properly... or fully improvised on my facebook videos...
I like to believe when I improvise I think of things I would have never came up with in a script!

Ahh you see I could never improv ukulele, do you write your own stuff? I do cover's and there's stuff I feel I have to stick to otherwise it wouldn't sound like the original at all heh ^_^

Yeah, I do comedy songs with my Uke... most of them haven't found way onto the internet out of a sheer cry of 'What was I thinking', but who knows, I might go back to them one day, when I'm struggling for ideas!!
