Hey friends,

I've been seeing a lot of references to this thing, the illuminata media group? Could someone give me some more info about it? Such as what it does, who is part of it and who owns it etc?

They own an MCN called Forela Digital, they have several networks using Content Owners (sometimes called CMS accounts) under their MCN, such as Rec.Studios, CIS, Foxital & RuleNetwork. (These networks aren't MCNs themselves, they're using the Forela MCN to partner channels and Illuminata holds legal responsibility for the channels).

I thought you could only have one CMS under an MCN?
 
Hey mate as far as I know Illuminata Media is a company, partners with other MCNs. MCNs like CIS, Creative Nation, Rec-studios, Rule, Foxital, origin8 and others ( I don't know all the names).

Plus I think the MCN's that listed are full MCNs, they are not just Content Owners. And the other MCNs are not using the Forela to partner channels - they do that themselves. So it's my understanding that Illuminata media is a partner with other MCNs.

No, the people claiming to be "MCNs" who associate with that company, are not MCNs at all (they do lie about being so though), the only MCN is Forela Digital, the rest are content owners underneath that MCN.
As I stated above, Forela has the legal agreement with YouTube and full legal responsibility for the any channels in a content owner under their MCN.

The full list of COs under the Forela Digital MCN is:

What about MCN's like Creative Nation or Music Nations?
 
Hello @Shane, I’ve just read your posts, and since I work at Illuminata I thought it would be a good idea for me to sign in and clear up the confusion.

As far as the Illuminata Media Group goes, each MCN has its own, separate, legal entity (USA Inc) and its own management teams, and owners, they're independent companies. All of the MCN's are Content Owners in their own rights with regards to YouTube, some of these MCNs have more than one Content Owner themselves. Each MCN rolls up channels to its own network.

Illuminata Media is quite a unique kind of company because it acts as a service provider to the MCNs and is not one in the traditional sense that you are describing individual ones to be.

Hello Shane,

I don't think it's necessary for us to sling dirt at each other here on this forum, even though our companies are indeed involved in some legal proceedings right now.

To propely inform the YT community about what is going on, it makes sense to also include a link to the first article about the dispute: quotenet.nl/Nieuws/Zoomin-miljonair-Jan-Riemens-beschuldigd-van-afpersing-en-gijzeling-update-175656

I'd rather leave it up to the courts to give the final word on how the dispute is settled, busying myself in the meantime with giving our partners and clients great service.

It's worth mentioning however that the judge verdict on the first trial has ruled against ZoomIn TV on all counts (link here, uitspraken.rechtspraak.nl/inziendocument?id=ECLI:NL:RBAMS:2016:1536&keyword=C%2f13%2f603412 also in Dutch).
