If I monetize, will the way I'm using images come back to bite me?

Okay, so I'm three weeks in and things are going pretty well. I don't plan to monetize for quite some time, but I'm trying to plan now so that I don't have trouble down the road if I do. Do you think I can use images the way I am on my channel on monetize later?

It should be fine. The only problem you might have is if someone complains about privacy or copyright issues related to the pictures, which normally won't happen unless the person is in a picture you use or you use someone's artwork without their permission.

I'm not 100% sure whether it is illegal to show a copyrighted pictures for a second on a video. You might want to google for "fair use".
But even if it is officially not allowed, there is no automatic detecting system liked there is for music so chances are very small that someone will complain.
I personally use quite a lot of pictures from the internet and then do further editing on them to use them as thumbnails and never are concerned about it.

I'd have to agree, Content ID will not pick up the images you use as they are not fullscreen and they do not last long. The only way your videos could be in danger is if the owner of the images happens to watch one of your videos and then report it which is a very low probability.

What I'd suggest doing is leaving your current videos on your channel and finding images from websites like pixabay.com and other royalty free image sites instead of just Googling a term and finding the best looking image

Then again you could always ask permission to use the images or see if it stats anything about fair use or terms of use on the site you found the image on.

Hope that helped :)
