I need some (personal) help.

What no one has said yet is that actually, you will more than likely change after doing a few videos. Go to my channel and take a look at my first video and my latest 2 or 3 and you'll see what I mean. Outside of youtube I would say I'm a pretty confident person. But starting youtube was nerve racking as hell, I started to get self confidence issues and all sorts. But after doing it a while I just started becoming myself. You will most likely do the same. The more videos you do the more of your personality will come through. And I would say that if you are the quiet type, there are always going to be subscribers out there that can relate to what you are saying, and may prefer the quiter youtuber over the loud shouty types. I say go for it!

So I'm going to explain my situation.

My name is Liam, I'm British and I'm 16 years old and just started college. My personality is moer towards being the shy and quiet type and for the last two years I've been exceeding and improving on socialising and frankly, doing stuff that was interesting to me. Which lead me on to having the fantasy to do YouTube.

However, I'm still the shy person that isn't exactly energetic to, I suppose playing with friends. I feel like the person that has a good number of friends, but does not talk much either way. Like he's the quiet guy of the group. And this is my problem, let me elaborate.

I'm not exactly sure if being the quiet type on YouTube is good. There are many quiet types, sure there are also many energetic types, some different and hateful and, well, you get the point. There are many personalities on YouTube, and I was just wondering if anyone saw any problem at all with people being quiet or shy.

tl;dr I'm a shy person wanting to do YouTube, but I'm asking a community of big, medium-sized or small YouTubers if it's acceptable to be quiet. And if not, please give me more tips on how to be more sociable I suppose.

For those questioning, I am confident, just I'm not talk-able in a lot of ways. Sometimes it's because of concentrating on the game, or just not knowing what to say.

Being a quiet type of a person on YouTube is not bad. It does not disadvantage you depending on the content you make. Just cater your content around your personality, don't change who you are - use who you are.
Just an FYI - there is a YouTube channel run by a woman. All she does is stare at a camera for a minute or two, in every video.... Nothing else... All that changes is the backdrop/background location.
Don't ask me why cause I don't know why but it is fairly popular...?

So to answer your question, no it is not a bad thing. Not at all.

I think people with more extroverted personalities do get more subscribers. However there's nothing wrong with being quiet. For me I'm exactly like you, and I hope to change myself when I graduate high school.
I think so too, but it was worth asking especially from a community. I hope you improve though through the next few days, months or years. :3

Thanks a lot! Worth saying though but I'm pretty sure I and other members have said a similar thing, as to which you will improve over time. Not sure though :P

Thanks Crown :P

Can you tell me what channel that is? I'm interested to view the comments and how discussions are based on her videos. It sounds odd, but oddly putting enough to be curious on her comments.

And if so, thanks.

I will take a look, I saw her channel a while back while browsing but never bookmarked it or anything. I'll get back to you on it :)
