i know this may not sound like much, but my ocd is kicking in and i need to know the answer to this question - how do you change your video thumbnails to custom pictures? The reason i ask is this: i thought that it was something that only partners could do, but ive seen people who (i think) arent partners who have their own custom video thumbs. Is this just a partner thing, or is there a way to do this i just dont know about? Thanks
 
It's weird, today I logged into my account to release my new video and went to change the thumbnail and underneath my options I had an option for custom. I found it weird because I'm no where near being considered a partner. Have you had a look at your thumbnail options mate?

I have checked...time and time again...and it never shows up....and i feel left out :( XD

You should get it soon enough, it has been being rolled out over the past few weeks which seemingly is in order of view/sub count, YTtalkTV got them a couple of days ago, I think its only a matter of time before you get them if you monetise.
 
I heard you are only able to get this option if you have over 5000 video views total, I recently switched to a new account and have around 2600 views and i don't have the custom option, where as my old channel had well over that many views and the option was there. I don't think it's subs that matter to get this option, just views, and a good standing channel under the account status section on your channel overview page.

that would make sense....if thats the case, then im almost at 3500 XD
 
ohh not far off then! when you reach it, do let me know if it's correct, as this is just what I've heard. I hope it is the case because I'm really loving the idea of the Custom Thumbnails! :)

The big reason i want custom thumbnails is because it makes the videos themselves more likely to get watched. I dont know much about marketing, but i do know that the first impression is the most important....i want a freakin awesome first impression XD
