I dont understand why some videos with less views make more money.

I only recently monetized my account, but I dont understand how they figure out how much I get. I read somewhere that people usually get $1 to $3 for every 1,000 views, but it seems to be complete off for me. For instance. I have one video that got 4 views in the last 7 days and it made 4 cents. I have another video I uploaded a few days ago and it has 1,800 views but, but it only says I've made 11 cents. Both videos are about 1 minute long. The one that got 4 views says it has an estimated 0 minutes watched. The one that has 1800 views says an estimated 1,422 minutes watched. Shouldn't I have a couple bucks by now for the 1800 views? Here is the other thing. I have been watching the video that has 1800 views everyday. When I had my first 50 views it said I made 11 cents. Now 1750 views later, not another penny. Someone tell me that they only update earnings once per week or month or something.

Well, I learnt this from Shane really helpfull guy:)
But!
Under add performance in analytics there is somehting that should say 'Playback Based CPM' CPM being Cost Per Mile (1000 views) and every 1000 monetized views (People who watch the ads) you shall get a profit so if youtube takes 10/90% of the profits and Fullscreen takes 20/90% you would earn 60% of all profits! Well I hope so :) so Playback Based CPM is what profits there are before youtube and your network takes the cut of the profits, and Monetized views is how many times the ad got played back/clicked on the ad, so if you are earning more money with videos with less views that means more people are watching/clicking on the ads.

I'f I am wrong (It is unlikely) Shane or someone shall correct me :P[DOUBLEPOST=1367470153,1367470100][/DOUBLEPOST]I also think it depends on what TPYE of ads are shown.

Thanks...that helps somewhat. I dont know what you mean when you say "fullscreen takes 20/90% and I would earn 60% of all profits" But the good news is that my earnings estimate jumped from the 11 cents to 60 cents now even though analytics isnt showing any more views than this morning. So I'm guessing that the earnings estimate just takes time. So another question. Under ad performance it says my playback based CPM is $3.83. Does this mean I should be getting 60% of $3.83 or around $2.30 per 1,000 views?

Not every view is monetized so don't be worried if you don't earn much on a video with 1,000 views as it will probably be around 500-700 monetized views. Glad the estimate updated, they can take a few days for revenue updates.

Gross revenue/CPM is before Google share of 45%.

Google always take 45% and then the network you are with (if your with one) takes a % of the 55% remaining.[DOUBLEPOST=1367498808][/DOUBLEPOST]

There are so many variables to consider. 1.) what % of the views are monetized (people use adblock/ only a low % of mobile views are monetized) 2.) what country are the viewers from that watched the video 3.) How high's the audience retention 4.) Numbers 2/3 will effect your CPM (how much money is generated per 1000 monetized views).
