Well that is a very lame title for this but anyways...

So I have a camera but it needs a memory card... But I digress...

Currently the way I do my videos is between my webcam & my cellphone... YES it creates bad quality & I was wondering if anyone has any advice on making it a little better... Not really the quality cause that's not fixable...

I have no idea what I am saying anymore but if anyone understands I would appreciate the tips & advice :)

Hi there. I'm just moving this thread to the Video Editing Recording Software & Hardware section of the forum :) I myself don't have a very good camera, so yeah I make do with what I have. If you're using a webcam and cell phone, make sure you have plenty of light. If not, the footage can look really grainy. Phones are usually not that bad and tend to be better then webcams which can sometimes lag.

I wasn't exactly sure where to put it lol so thank you I appreciate it.

I try my best with lighting... When I move I am having a room set up just for Youtube videos & for streaming games. Hopefully by then I get a better webcam & camera.

Hi Candace

I checked out your 2 latest videos and one was in 240p and 360p and yeah not great quality lol. Have a look at the settings on your webcam and cellphone and make sure they are recording on their highest resolution (the highest number of pixels) And if there isn't a higher resolution then you should think about getting a webcam that can record in HD - check out Logitech - they have some good ones.

I'd also recommend you invest in an external microphone, because the audio quality is really bad with the built-in mic from your camera and /or phone. Have a look at the hardware forum on here for microphone advice and free software you can use for improving audio quality.

Good luck :)

Do you use an iPhone to film with? Because if you do, you should get the app FilMicPro. It gives you a LOT more control over your phone's camera - including the ability to drop the frame rate to 24fps which will make you look like you shot on a much better camera.

Those small cameras require a decent amount of light to get a good picture for video - but not too much or you'll blow out. The best time/place to film is outside during twilight or in the shade. That way you're not in direct sunlight.

Phone cameras have better sound nowadays, but investing in a small lavalier mic - especially for laptop shots - will clean up your audio. People can forgive bad video but not bad audio. I suggest the Audio-Technica ATR-3350 Lavalier Omnidirectional Condenser Microphone. It's great and it's only 20 bucks on Amazon!

I actually have a Droid 3, Yes it is a tiny bit outdated haha but I am looking into getting an Iphone.

Thank you for those tips I appreciate it :)

You can pick up a 500watt lamp for like $10 at WalMart, and it provides more light than you can ever need, lol. Make sure you bounce the light off a wall, so you don't kill your eyes/drown your shot out!

I did not know that walmart had that. Thank you so much for that I will make sure to look into it :)

Yep, I found ours back in the DIY Home Improvement section, where they have like house paint and plumbing, etc. They had a $30 6' lamp stand, too, with two 1,000w lamps, too, but I thought that was overkill, lol.
