I brush my hair out for the first time in 2 months. (I have a mental illness)

Hey guys! So I’ve been struggling with my mental health, and part of something that has deteriorated is my hygiene. This is pretty embarrassing for me, but I thought sharing this step (along with something that cheered me up) would help in some way.

I know that it might be annoying because of the black bars, and there is a part where the sound isn’t the best (so I couldn’t put music over it) but I haven’t received much engagement on my actual video (on Facebook, yes from friends and family), so I just wanted some feedback from anyone with patience to watch this. Thank you. It means a lot. Should I cut some parts out (without taking away what this is about) or should I leave it as is? Is there something I can do within the editor (so that i don't have to delete it and repost it) to make this better or more enjoyable to watch?

if you have any questions (about my journey specifically, I can't speak for others) I would love to maybe do a follow-up. It might be too early for it since this is my first video about this, but if you are curious about anything, I'm an open book.

Mental illness is quite vague. Could you maybe specify so that the viewer can sympathise better? Especially in the beginning. I think you take a while to get to the point. Apart from that it is well edited for example with the sped up voice and what not. Also try maybe horizontal next time.

Thanks for taking the time! You are very right. I did keep it vague, I probably should have went more into it, but this was honestly a spur of the moment thing and not very scripted. Still I could have put that in there. It is important.

I did originally want to do horizontal just because I'm not really a fan of the black bars, but filters don't work well if at all when the camera is turned on its side and I wanted to use filters to soften the blow of the serious subject. You say that I take a while to get to the point, what in your opinion are things that I could cut out? I don't want to pull the whole thing down, but I am willing to go into the YouTube editor to cut things out/ add what I can to make it better. If you have any suggestions as someone who isn't me, I'm open to hearing them.

I’m not home right now but I will take a closer look when I get back[DOUBLEPOST=1521743782,1521738123][/DOUBLEPOST]I think between the 2 and 3 minute mark you could have condensed it and the same for when you were brushing your hair.

I cut off a minute and change, I could probably still do more, but thank you for helping me go back and look at my video more objectively.

It takes a lot of bravery to be so open and share so much, so kudos to you.

In terms of driving more engagement, I found the audio a bit too quiet to hear at times and I noticed your tags are more like hashtags - words strung together without spaces, which would make it hard to search in some circumstances and may lower the chance that it comes up as a related video. Unless you know something about tags that I don't!

I don't mind portrait video as much as some people do and I understand YT will start supporting it officially soon. That aside, I feel like you could have framed some of the shots a bit closer/more carefully, but I realize it's not really the type of video that demands traditional production values.

Best of luck with your channel and future videos.

Thanks a bunch for taking time out to help me out! It's very much appreciated.

No. I know nothing about tags. I mean I know the bare minimum. I think there is a good chance that I just forgot how to do tags and instantly thought of Twitter because I've been a lot more active there lately. Either that or I just never knew what I was doing from the very beginning. I think it's a healthy mixture of both. lol

No worries, I think your tags will be just fine if you separate the words and make sure those phrases are repeated in your description and ideally title.
